A Very Neutral Christmas
Decorating for Christmas is one of the most exciting parts of the year. I love all the extra twinkly lights and greenery. This year, I went pretty minimal but I did add some decor in our bedroom and dining room which I normally keep pretty bare.

Getaway to Chateau Elan
We recently had the chance to escape to Chateau Elan for a weekend getaway. The stunning property is located only an hour outside of Atlanta and offers a variety of activities, such as trails, bike rides, a spa, winery tours, and a culinary studio. We enjoyed the cozy atmosphere of the beautiful property, the delicious food, and the breathtaking sunset in the vineyards.

Who's the fairest of them all? - The Battle of Comparison
Social media often fuels comparison and insecurity, but what if we flipped the script and used it as an opportunity to pray for and encourage others? Ian and I started a simple habit of praying sincerely for people whose posts stirred bitterness or jealousy, and over time, it changed our hearts, reminding us to focus on Gods truth about our worth and His work in others lives.

When Your Milestones Leave You Unsatisfied
Growing up, I thought life truly began at the next milestonehigh school, college, career, marriagebut each step left me asking, Is this it? Through Ecclesiastes, I learned that true satisfaction doesnt come from checking boxes but from pursuing God and finding joy in the everyday moments Hes placed before us. Life isnt about the real world society sells us; its about living faithfully where God has us right now.

Our Love Story
Our love story is more than just a series of romantic momentsits a testament to Gods grace and the journey He has written for us. From Ians shaggy-haired drummer days to a Facebook message that sparked hours of conversation, our path to marriage was full of twists, laughter, and faith. Ians heartfelt proposal and our wedding vows were just the beginning, as weve learned to pursue Christs selfless love before we pursue each other. Two years later, I love Ian more than ever and am continually inspired by his heart for the Lord. Heres to living out a love story that reflects His ultimate sacrifice and grace!

The Truth
Starting The Southern Trunk was a leap of faith for me, one that came with fears of failure, ego, and the unknown. But Ive realized life isnt about staying safe on the sidelinesits about sharing the unique journey God has given us, imperfections and all. Through this blog, I promise to be confident in my identity, transparent about lifes messiness, and rooted in Gods presence, always remembering to be still and know that He is God (Psalm 46). Lets focus on the joy and blessings weve been given, rather than the comparison that steals it.

What is The Southern Trunk?
The inspiration behind The Southern Trunk came from a childhood memory of discovering the treasures inside my parents trunklove letters, keepsakes, and pieces of their story. That magical experience sparked a desire to share not only whats in my own trunk but the stories, memories, and treasures of others. From photography and travels to southern hospitality and thrifted gems, this blog highlights the simple, beautiful things that tell a greater story. My hope is that The Southern Trunk inspires you to see the everyday blessings that make life extraordinary.

The Back Deck
Our small back deck might not be large, but we turned it into a cozy retreat perfect for relaxing and entertaining. With clearance finds from Home Depot, jute-edged pillows, and string lights from Target, we created a versatile seating area that feels warm and inviting. A fire pit and space heater complete the setup, making it perfect for fall evenings. It may be simple, but its just right for enjoying the weather, good books, and time with friends.

Merry & Bright - The perfect holiday party booth
Every year, Ian and I love hosting our small Christmas party, and this time, we brought back the iconic Tacky Christmas Sweaters. The highlight? A hilarious DIY photo booth featuring vintage lights, Dollar Store packaging paper, and the most random props (yes, including a Shake Weight). With hideously awesome chairs from Goodwill and tons of laughter, it was a festive night full of holiday cheer. Its become a tradition we cant wait to continue!

A Very Merry Christmas
Christmas is my favorite seasonnot just for the parties and cheer, but for the joy of turning our home into a cozy winter wonderland filled with memories. Each decoration tells a story, whether its handmade ornaments, garland from our backyard, or little traditions like penguin ornaments from my mom. From burlap and champagne tones in the living room to our whimsical Grinch-themed kitchen tree, every corner reflects a blend of nostalgia and creativity. But the real magic is in the lightthe kind that reminds us of Christs birth and the hope and love He brought into the world.
