We recently spent a few days staying at Jekyll Island Club Resort, specifically between the Jekyll Ocean Club and the newer Jekyll Island Club Resort Inn, and it truly made the trip feel easy from start to finish. Not in an over-the-top luxury kind of way, but in a thoughtful, comfortable, “everything you need is already taken care of” kind of way.
One of my favorite parts was how connected everything felt. There’s a complimentary shuttle that takes you back and forth between the properties, the beach, and restaurants, which made the entire stay feel seamless — especially with a little one in tow. We never really had to think too hard about logistics, which honestly allowed us to enjoy the island even more.
What We Loved Most on Jekyll Island
Biking the Island
If you do one thing while you’re here, rent bikes.
Jekyll has miles of beautiful bike paths that weave through oak trees, marsh views, beach access points, and quiet neighborhoods. It’s one of the best ways to experience the island because you can slow down enough to actually notice everything. We loved hopping on bikes in the morning before it got too warm and just exploring without a plan.
It feels peaceful in the best way — like the kind of coastal town you wish more places still were.
Driftwood Beach
Driftwood Beach almost doesn’t look real the first time you see it.
The shoreline is covered in massive driftwood trees twisted into sculptures by years of tide and weather, and it feels more like walking through art than a beach. It’s especially beautiful at sunrise or golden hour when the light hits everything softly.
It’s one of those places that reminds you how creative creation itself is.
S’mores Each Evening
Every evening at the resort they set up complimentary s’mores, and it ended up becoming one of our favorite little traditions of the trip.
There was just something sweet about slowing down at the end of the day, sitting by the fire, and lingering a little longer outside together. Sometimes it’s the smallest parts of a trip that end up becoming the most memorable.
Beach Service & Slow Mornings
The complimentary beach chair and towel service was such an underrated perk. We didn’t have to haul half the room down to the sand or overthink packing for the day. Everything was already set up and waiting, which made beach mornings feel restful instead of chaotic.
And honestly, the beach itself felt quieter than many coastal towns in the South — less crowded, less rushed, and more peaceful overall.
Where We Ate
Wake Up Coffee Company
A cozy stop for coffee and breakfast before heading out for the day. The kind of place that feels local and welcoming the second you walk in.
The Pantry
Perfect for grabbing something easy and casual. We loved having this nearby for slower mornings and quick lunches between activities.
Eighty Ocean Kitchen and Bar
Probably one of the prettiest dinner spots we visited. Coastal, elevated, but still relaxed enough that you never feel underdressed. The atmosphere here especially at sunset was beautiful.
The Wharf
A classic waterfront dinner spot with such a peaceful atmosphere in the evenings. Sitting by the water at sunset here felt like the perfect way to end the day. Don't miss out on the shrimp and grits!
What I loved most about Jekyll Island is that it's effortlessly wonderful.
It isn’t flashy or overly commercialized. It feels slower, quieter, and deeply restful in a way that’s becoming harder to find. Whether you spend the day biking beneath oak trees, walking Driftwood Beach, or simply sitting by the ocean with nowhere to be, it’s the kind of place that gently reminds you to pause.
And honestly? Those are usually the trips that stay with me the longest.
